Welcome. This website showcases recent work in my new series, Handmade, After The War. As these images reveal, I’m interested in making art that revolves around the rugged memories and salvaged materials of a forgotten war – my forgotten war, the war in Iraq.

My paintings and installations are meant to be bold, beautiful, and complicated. The materials I use are real: paper milled from the discarded uniforms of soldiers, chalk that crumbles and falls away from the canvas, frames crafted from wood that is splintered, rotten and repurposed.

I’ll update the site as more pieces are completed. Feel free to contact me at:  Matthew_Boulay@hotmail.com
